Buffalo Gap Historic Village

photos by UnCommonDays.com

This gathering of historic buildings, including a train station, doctor's office, historic log cabin, courthouse and jail and the home of the first Marshall of Abilene, gives the visitor a real feel of the past, rather than a "theme park" impression. Several buildings are on the National Registry of Historic Places and have the Texas State Marker. A visit to this village provides a good opportunity to learn about how a place that was once shared by Indians, buffalo and rattlesnakes was changed forever when buffalo hunters killed the buffalo.
