This historic town, once the home of "Wild Bill" Hickok, Calamity Jane and Wyatt Earp, has been designated a National Historic Landmark. It had the first telephone exchange in South Dakota. Gold mining, lumbering and tourism are the most important industries in Deadwood. Visitors are always welcome and may enjoy limited stakes gaming. |
