What: A festival featuring multiple activities for almost every day of December. Doorway decorating contest, tree lightings, train rides, workshops and classes to create Christmas decorations and gifts, recitals, concerts, storytelling and readings, open houses and other activities are all free of charge or benefit a non-profit institution or charity. Businesses, residents, and the city collaborate to illuminate much of the historic area with clear bulbs to simulate the candlelight of bygone days. Several of the Newport Mansions are decorated for the season in a manner reminiscent of past eras. |
