Philbrick - Cricenti Bog

If you’ve never walked in a “bog”, here’s your chance. From April through early Fall, enjoy the variety of plants and flowers in a wonderfully natural setting. Just be careful not to step off the walkway or you might get “bogged down” since what appears to be ground is actually a floating mat of plants like you might see in the arctic tundra. The official depth of the bog is 20 feet.

Directions:
From Exit -12 off I-89, go toward New London on Newport Road (old Rt. 11). Watch for a pull-off area on south side of the road about .5 miles before the hospital road. Look for trail and signs partially hidden in the trees.
