The Old Man of the Mountain was the Great Stone Face of Profile Mountain, renowned as the New Hampshire State Symbol.  The old man's profile was formed by 5 separate ledges.  It measured 40 ft. from chin to forehead.  Until May 3, 2003, the Old Man was always viewable, weather permitting.
