Beaver Brook Falls

   Plan for a picnic near Colebrook in the Great North Woods at this pristine falls. A grassy knoll in front of this spectacle will invite you to spread out your lunch and enjoy a game of catch. Walk across the footbridge to reach the falls.
   In summer, it's a great place to cool off. There's a shelf in the rock face of the falls about halfway down, and on a hot August day you can sit under the cascade and envelope your entire body in the cool, plummeting water.
   In winter, it's frozen solid!

On Rt. 145, just a few miles north of Colebrook, New Hampshire (where residents sometimes "do business by pickup truck").
