Owl's Head Light |
|
|
One of many beautiful points along Maine's craggy coast that spelled terror for sailors in days gone-by is the site of Owl's Head Lighthouse. Even after it was built in 1826, many shipwrecks occurred. The tower is shorter than most due to its location on an outcropping 100 ft above the sea. Park your car and walk to both the lighthouse and rocky, shoreline. Sunny, summer days bring many picnickers but in the late fall, you may have the place to yourself.
