To see the ultimate in recycling, visit this truly unique little
museum. The building itself is the crate (turned inside out) that was
used to transport the Spirit of St. Louis home to the U.S. from Paris,
on the USS Memphis, after Lindbergh's famous flight. The "souvenir" was
requested by Admiral Burrage who took it to his home in NH in 1927. It
remained there, developing a history of its own, until Larry, Rebecca
and Caitlin Ross moved it to their home on a hilltop in Canaan in 1990.
Mr. Ross uses this old "box" to focus the attention of all who visit on
the true "spirit" of having a vision, putting a plan together and
reaching a goal. The Lindbergh Crate Day he hosts every June is a
discreetly spectacular event.
