The Eisenhower Center

The Eisenhower Center

General Dwight D. Eisenhower accomplished much in his Army career and later in his efforts toward civil rights, world peace and other important issues in his role as President.  However, the legacy that every American and visitor to the country may appreciate the most, on a daily basis, is the interstate system he was responsible for beginning in 1956.

This Center houses the final resting place for President Eisenhower ("Ike") and his wife, Mamie, as well as various buildings relating to his life.  It adequately provides the visitor a chance to learn something of this man and his work.  The surrounding area is filled with many other "museums" that seem to beg the tourist to stay a while.
