Tallulah Gorge
and Jane Hurt Yarn Interpretive Center

This impressive gorge with a two-mile long, 1,000 feet deep chasm can be viewed from several spots along the Highway and a walking path behind the Jane Hurt Yarn Interpretive Center.  The center itself is worth visiting and if you plan to enter the gorge you can obtain free, required permits here.  In 1970, the Great Wallenda walked across the gorge on a tightrope, a feat that had already been accomplished by another aerialist, Professor Leon, in 1886.
