Appalachian Trail - Neels Gap
The one and only point where the trail is covered!

photos by UnCommonDays.com

This 2160 mile hiking trail winds it way through fourteen states, eight national forests, six national parks, and many state and local parks from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in central Maine and is only covered at one spot. At Neels Gap, which is close to the highest point on the trail in Georgia at Blood Mountain, the trail goes through the breezeway of the Walasi-yi Center, a stone building built in the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC).
