Air Mobility Command Museum

The Air Mobility Command Museum is on Dover Air Force Base in Hangar 1301.  This hangar is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the site of the US Army Air Forces secret rocket test center during World War II. The history of The Air Mobility Command and missions of Dover AFB are reflected through more than 25 vintage aircraft and many artifacts and exhibits displayed in and around Hangar 1301.
Exhibits include features on the WASPS, the Berlin Airlift, the history and interpretation of Nose Art (that unforgettable artwork painted on World War II aircraft), and a Hall of Heroes dedicated to those awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.

P-51 Mustang

The sound you hear is a WWII P-51 Mustang fighter like this one at the Air Mobility Command Museum.

In addition to exhibit halls, there's a theater and a museum shop.  Ask a guide if you can climb aboard a giant cargo plane and sit in the pilot's seat!
The museum grounds are also the site of Commemoration Park, a peaceful place of tribute to all who have served in the Air Force and Air Corps.
Staffed by experts, including volunteers, in Air Force/Air Corps history, this museum is filled with uncommon memorabilia, facts and fun.
