In Scott, Cotham's Mercantile,
made famous both by its menu items and its famous customers, offers a
view
of cypress
trees standing "knee" deep
in water. This used to be a familiar sight throughout the south but is
now fairly "uncommon".
A legend in Keo says that a major trucking company was started
using funds that came from the bank vault pictured here. The bank building
is now one of the appealing
antique and specialty shops that draw visitors to a town that seems to be suspended
in time.
The surrounding pecan plantations and
cotton fields remind the visitor of the previous agricultural "hey
day" of
this area.
